Samsung Gear VR for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge pre-sales kick off tomorrow, launches May 8th

samsung-gear-vr-unboxing

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge can grab themselves a Samsung Gear VR very soon. Samsung and Best Buy have announced that pre-sales for the virtual reality headset will commence tomorrow at Best Buy stores, and you can expect it to arrive May 8th.

Those are all the details we have right now so there’s no pricing information to be had. Beyond that, this should be the same Samsung Gear VR that was fit for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that we’ve come to know and love. It’ll give you a unique look into some VR-ready content such as the collection of goods found inside Samsung’s Milk VR app, as well as the new VR feature on YouTube. There’s also a decent selection of other apps scattered about that might interest you.

We’ll be sure keep our eyes on Best Buy’s website to see if we can’t get more details. In the meantime check out our Samsung Gear VR review to see what you can expect once you have one of your own.

Motorola’s Moto E 2nd Gen will launch on Verizon Wireless tomorrow March 12th

Motorola Moto E 4G LTE black

A few weeks ago Motorola announced the all new Moto E for 2015. The updated smartphone comes equipped with LTE radios and packs a larger punch in the spec department than the previous model, making this extremely wallet friendly phone very enticing to those on budget.

The latest information available to us puts the Moto E 2nd Gen launching on Verizon Wireless tomorrow, March 12th. There’s no word on pricing, but from the looks of it, the all new Moto E will be part of Verizon’s Pre-Paid ensemble, where customers get unlimited talk, text, and 1GB of data for a month. Generous.

If you’re looking to purchase your very first smartphone, you can’t go wrong by starting off with a Moto E and a prepaid plan. At least, that’s what Motorola and Verizon are gunning for.

Samsung confirms Galaxy S6 US pre-sales begin tomorrow for Best Buy and all major carriers

 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge DSC08487

We’d heard Best Buy was going to have the Samsung Galaxy S6 in their stores beginning tomorrow, and that they were also going to begin pre-sale events at that time. Samsung has come out to confirm that information today as the company has announced the device will not only be available for pre-sale and on display at Best Buy March 27th, but also for all major US carriers — that’s T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. The devices will become available April 10th, Samsung previously announced.

Exact details about pricing and availability of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models will have to come from each carrier, but we know that all five will be offering both the regular S6 and the curved Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless and MetroPCS are also confirmed to be carrying just the regular Galaxy S6. Other retailers who will eventually get in on the fun are Amazon.com, Costco Wholesale, Inc., Sam’s Club, Target and Walmart.

The timing of this pre-sale is very interesting considering HTC just announced the unlocked version of the HTC One M9 would go on sale online tonight. That gives us two very compelling devices to consider going with for 2015 on the very same day. Let the games begin!

Verizon LG G4 up for pre-order tomorrow, arrives in-store June 4th – LG G Pad X8.3 available tomorrow as well

LG G4 White Ceramic

If you’re on Verizon and can’t wait to get your hands on the LG G4, you can get a head start tomorrow, May 28th. That’s when pre-orders for the Verizon version will officially kick off (T-Mobile’s has already begun shipping) and yes, it’ll come with all those goodies we told you about. What are those exactly? Well, LG’s promo — which is only available until June 21st — throws in a free spare battery, charging cradle, and micro SD card.

For those that don’t feel like pre-ordering, you’ll be able to pick one up at your local Verizon store on June 4th for 0 or .91 a month for 2 years with Verizon Edge. Verizon customers also get exclusive access to the “Ceramic White” version of the phone with that snazzy 3D pattern in the back if the leather option isn’t doing it for ya. If white isn’t your style, there’s still all the other colors like Metallic Gray and Genuine Black Leather.

In other semi-related news, the LG G Pad X8.3 also goes on sale tomorrow. It’s a pretty well-equipped tablet with a 8.3-inch full HD display, 16GB of internal storage, micro SD card slot, 8/2MP cameras, and a 4,800mAh battery for 0.

T-Mobile LG G4 begins shipping tomorrow with a free 128GB microSD card

lg g4 brown leather

T-Mobile has confirmed that they will begin taking orders for the LG G4 online tomorrow, and that the flagship phone will be ready to ship as soon as you confirm your order. This is about a week ahead of its expected June 3rd in-store availability, so this may be the quicker option for you to get your hands on it if you don’t want to wait any longer.

The LG G4 has proven to be a pretty stoic competitor for 2015, with an exceptional camera, good design and great performance being the driving forces behind the much-earned excitement of future owners. You can read our LG G4 review if you’re wondering whether it’s worth its skin.

The phone will cost down and .99 monthly payments over 24 months, or 9.76 if you decide you want to go without a contract. That very reasonable price tag comes with an added 128GB microSD card for no extra cost, but only while supplies last. Not a bad deal at all, we’d say. Let us know if you’ll be picking one up once checkout goes live.

Android 5.1 Lollipop for HTC One M7 Google Play Edition rolling out, Verizon’s One M7 gets it tomorrow

HTC One M7 thin case DSC01079

Verizon HTC One M7 customers need not worry about the fate of their device as it pertains to Android 5.1 Lollipop. HTC’s Mo Versi has confirmed on Twitter that the device will be receiving the upgrade as soon as tomorrow, May 14th. Details are scarce, but we can at least anticipate this will be a staggered rollout process that might take a while to get to every handset still in service.

For Those of you with the Google Play Edition, the update is already rolling out with the earliest reports having been seen just yesterday. You’ll only need to head to the device’s settings menu and check for updates to begin pulling it down (look for version LMY470, which is just about 280MB in size).

Grab a Moto X (2nd Gen) for $225 off tomorrow only [DEALS]

Moto X 2014 DSC07126

The Moto X (2nd Gen) is fast approaching its 1 year birthday and with that, Motorola has begun teasing another big sale on the device. Starting tomorrow (and tomorrow only), you can pick up a brand new Motorola Moto X for up to 5 off its regular price.

That means the 32GB model can be had for 0 and if you need something with a bit more internal storage, Motorola says they’ll the 64GB model will run 5. Not a bad deal if you’ve been looking to upgrade outside of carrier contracts and the 0 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge isn’t a viable option for you.

The Moto X is still one of our favorite Android devices out and what it doesn’t have in specs, it makes up for it in style. Let’s not forget it’s still easily one of the fastest Android devices available. The deal starts tomorrow, May 5th at 11AM CT and ends at 11AM CT, May 6th.

ASUS ZenFone 2 officially launching in the US starting tomorrow

zenfone_2_price

It’s been quite a few months since we first saw the ASUS ZenFone 2 officially unveiled at CES 2015 earlier this year. Today, ASUS unveiled the phone again, but this time they were finally ready to talk about availability. Starting tomorrow, May 19th, the ASUS ZenFone 2 will officially be available to order from major online retailers in the US and Canada, starting at 0.

zenfone_2_availability

If you’re looking for something a little higher-end than the 0 base model, ASUS will also has the nicely equipped 0 model which comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a 13MP camera. The phone also comes in a plethora of colors — red, black, gray and silver — with weird (but very cool) 3D patterns.

It’s pretty much the best value in mobile hardware we’ve ever seen and easily undercuts the competition like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which will run over ,000 for a similarly equipped model. The unlocked North American version of the ASUS ZenFone 2 will be available at fine retailers like Amazon, B&H, Groupon, and Newegg. Who’s buying?

Android 5.1 is rolling out tomorrow for the DROID Turbo

Moto DROID Turbo DSC09781

Yesterday, Motorola teased the Android 5.1 update for the Motorola DROID Turbo yet again, letting us know once more than it was coming. The tweet more or less signaled the soak test which officially kicked off yesterday, according to Motorola Software Product Manager David Schuster. While soak tests usually mean that a full rollout is right around the corner (providing no serious bugs are found during this time), they’re limited to a select few of users from Motorola’s product forum.

The real question on everyone’s mind is when we — as in us regular folk — will see that sweet update hitting our DROID Turbos. We still don’t have an exact date, but Schuster did mention that if all goes well, we can expect a full roll out as soon as this week. Remember, it took barely 3 days for the Moto X’s Android 5.1 update went from soak to full deployment. With all that DROID Turbos have had to suffer through (the Turbo is still on KitKat, mind you), we can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel.

For a look at all that’s new, check out Motorola’s official changelog for the Motorola DROID Turbo right here.

UPDATE: Looks it’s officially going live (in phases) starting tomorrow!

What will Huawei announce tomorrow?

huawei announcement teaser

Huawei has an announcement set to be made tomorrow, June 3rd, and we’re wondering what, exactly, it is. Our initial suspicion is that the rumors of a Huawei P8 Lite launch for the United States will turn out true. While there’s no concrete evidence of that, the teaser they have on their website shows parts of a phone that resembles the design of the P8 Lite in near identical fashion.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Huawei can’t borrow design languages for use on other phones, so we’ll always have to keep open the possibility that it’s something else. We’re also hoping to hear some info about the launch of the Huawei Watch in the United States. The watch was previously revealed at CES and actually grabbed a great deal of attention (see our Huawei Watch hands-on), but Huawei has been hush-hush on availability details.

What else? Well, we know the Huawei MediaPad T1 8.0 is still set to launch soon. The listing on their website has had a fat “Coming Soon” label on it for a few months now, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re getting ready to roll that one out, as well.

Our hope is that we also hear something about a launch of the flagship Huawei P8 for a US launch. It’s the company’s top-line device and it would be a great way to make an impression for the US consumer base (which is decidedly behind the Samsungs, HTCs and LGs of the world). The announcement happens tomorrow so be sure to circle back to see what exactly the company has in store!
