LG shows off the software that will run on the LG G4 [VIDEO]

Last week LG announced the display panel that will be on the LG G4, and now they are showing off the software that will be displayed on it. LG has published a teaser video that goes over past versions of their Android UX and shows new features of “LG UX 4.0.”

The overall look of the new UX is the same that we’ve seen on the LG G3 and LG G Flex 2. It’s a nice take on Google’s Material Design aesthetic without being a copy. Smart Bulletin is making a return from the LG G3. It puts things like settings, LG Health, calendar, and Remote just a swipe away, similar to HTC Blinkfeed. Instead of long-pressing the volume down button to launch the camera you now can double press, which is coincidentally the new way to launch the camera on the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Other things that LG showed in the video include new options for camera controls, a new calendar app, a way to quickly customize ringtones, and a new gallery app. We’ll see more about LG UX 4.0 at the G4 event on April 28th in New York. What are your thoughts on the LG G4 so far?

T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z3, Z1s one step closer to Android Lollipop according to software updates page

It’s been a good few months since we saw Sony officially announce Lollipop for the Sony Xperia Z3, followed by a rollout for the unlocked US versions. The update has eluded carrier branded models in the US but by now it’s a story you’ve heard before. Carriers tend to delay the update process with the extensive testing that goes into any software update for a device operating on their network.

When it comes to the T-Mobile model, things weren’t looking so good given the phone disappeared from inventory a few weeks back. But it didn’t take long for the Z3 to return to T-Mobile’s store shelves (and at a discount no less), leaving us feeling a bit more optimistic that a Lollipop update was around the corner.

It now seems T-Mobile has recently updated their software updates page, with both the Sony Xperia Z3 and its older sibling, the Sony Xperia Z1s, showing that Lollipop has officially entered into the carrier testing phase. T-Mobile has 3 phases on their page: manufacturer development, T-Mobile testing, and then finally a completed status.

The next phase from here is the rollout and a completed status. Now that we’re one step closer, that rollout can’t be too far out. Stay tuned.

AT&T LG G4 software update (H81010e) rolling out now, doesn’t ask for permission before installing

LG G4 owners on AT&T are left scratching their heads after a mysterious software update was automatically installed on their devices without their consent. Normally when receiving an over-the-air update, the user will receive some sort of a prompt notifying them of an update, along with some form of a changelog listing the new changes. Some OTA updates can actually be postponed for so long before they auto-update but this one just kind of came out of the blue and installed it itself.

So, what was it? According to an AT&T software update page, it was a relatively small 26MB update (which lines up with reports) that began last week and was little more than an update to the AT&T Address Book app. The update is still Android 5.1 (build LMY47D) but updates the software to version H81010e. It’s not the first time AT&T has done something like this, and it probably wont be the last.

Anyone else see their LG G4 applying this update on its own?

Verizon Galaxy S5 Software Update to 4.4.4 G900VVRU1ANI2 Officially Released

Verizon has officially announced  that the Android 4.4.4 software update is now arriving  on Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V. The new 4.4.4 update dubbed with build number KTU48P.G900VVRU1ANI2 with baseband version G900VVRU1ANI2 is now live via Over the air OTA update. The 4.4.4 brings several enhancements and bug fixes such as the necessary tweaks to enable VoLTE (or Advanced Calling 1.0, as Verizon is calling it) calls, more tracking features for the S Health app, an option to turn off the camera shutter sound, and a few fixes related to Bluetooth audio, KNOX, and the Emergency Call dialer on the lockscreen.  It seems like the 4.4.4 came out last week dubbed with builder number KTU48P.G900VVRU1ANHA  is being replaced with this one.

G900VVRU1ANK2 Verizon Galaxy S5 Software Update Still on 4.4.4 not Android 5.0 Lollipop Yet

Verizon Galaxy S5 got a new software update to build version KOT49H.G900VVRU1ANK2. The G900VVRU1ANK2 appears not an Android 5.0 Lollipop update as everyone might expect to come this  holiday season, but still base in Android 4.4.4 KitKat.  The former targets and brings fixes to the VPN connectivity issue and an issue where some users saw a memory card error “Blank SD card or unsupported files” after the last software update — 4.4.4 G900VVRU1ANI2.
The update iself also replaced the ISIS mobile wallet with Softcard.

In addition, there are no official Android 5.0 Lollipop in U.S. Those who might not yet knew, the Android 5.0 has been already rolled out in Poland at this time being only, whereas other countries might get it much sooner. Be patient. There is no need to rush-in as the Android 5.0 still not so perfectly stable yet as there are still some bugs found that needs a concrete stabilization. You can even see this issues on Nexus devices that gets the 5.0 Lollipop ahead of other Android devices.

T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Gets OTA Update to G900TUVU1BNG4 with Audio and Software Improvement

T-Mobile has just released another Android 4.4.2 update on Samsung Galaxy S5 G900T and brings the software build number  G900TUVU1BNG4. The G900TUVU1BNG4 has the same kernel build value as of the previous released  G900TUVU1BNG3 that enables the Voice-over-LTE or VoLTE supports and enhancements.  The update will stabilizes  audio and software improvement according to the addressed changelog. It may seem just a minor OTA update but it brings the voice call quality improvements and system stability.  So it is an important update as it fixes problems to those who still cannot make any voice call over LTE coverage areas.

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Kies. You may head-over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it in your Windows or Mac computer. Choose the new Kies 3 which supports the Galaxy S5 SM-G900T and other Samsung devices running with Android 4.4.2 and up OS .  Once you installed Kies 3, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T  to the computer using the USB cable, then simply run and follow Kies on-screen software update instructions.
