Amazon’s Dash Button lets you refill home goods at the simple press of a button [VIDEO]

Our immediate reaction to Amazon’s latest announcement was that it has to be an April Fools joke, but perhaps that’s a testament to just how cool and future-thinking this product actually is. This is the Amazon Dash Button, a tiny little button that you can press to instantly order replenishment for any perishable product you need from Amazon.

Whether that product is a huge case of diapers, enough gatorade to supply a full basketball team or some macaroni and cheese, you only need to press the button once and Amazon will automatically place an order for shipment to your doorstep. You’ll get a notification on your phone to confirm the details of your order, and Amazon’s app will make it easy enough to make changes to your button’s behavior whenever you need, such as setting up different quantities or flavors.

The buttons can be ordered from Amazon, and the best part is it’s free for any Prime user. You might also find some products that come with Amazon Dash Buttons pre-installed, such as a washing machine with a Tide button or a water cooler that’ll get you jugs of nature’s primary element whenever you need it.

In fact, there’s already one such product that exists. It’s Poppy’s smart coffee machine that’ll make you coffee whenever you need it, whether you set an automatic timer to have it make a batch in the morning, or you tell it to make a cup via the smartphone app for when you get home. Poppy’s machine integrates Amazon’s dash replenishment service to automatically detect when you’re running low on coffee and place an order for more to ensure you get a shipment before you run out.

You’ll see the same sort of functionality in Brita’s smart filters and Brother’s printers. Sounds like cool stuff. Unfortunately we’re not yet sure of some of the details of Dash Button, such as whether you’ll be able to order a generic one to program for getting items such as those that can be bought through Amazon Subscribe & Save.

Amazon users who are interested can actually sign up to be let in on the early round of testing set to go down within the next few weeks. You can now customize snooze times in Inbox by Gmail (and Google finally added a Contacts button)

Google has published a quick update for Inbox by Gmail that makes a small, but important tweak: you can now customize your “morning” and “evening” times for snoozing email. The app originally sets 7:00am and 7:00pm for snooze times for everyone who downloads it, but that might not always be the most convenient (such as for yours truly, whose mornings unfortunately begin far before the sun rises at 7:00am).

If you’re not aware what snoozing in Inbox is, it’s a feature that lets you dismiss an email until a later time. The email will popup again at the time you specify as if the email just arrived in your inbox. It’s a very convenient tool that makes it tough for you to forget about an important or interesting email that you can’t read immediately.

Google says the latest change will go into effect automatically, so there’s no need to wait for an update from Google Play. It’s also obviously immediately present in the desktop website as well.

Google will ask you if you want to customize your snooze time the next time you go to snooze an email, and anything you snooze from there on will popup at your new time (even if you previously had an item snoozed before the update arrived). You’ll also be able to differentiate between morning and evening times, so your 6am wake up time doesn’t necessarily have to be matched by a 6pm evening time.

Oh, and one more thing: Google finally added a quick button to access Google Contacts on the desktop web from within Inbox. It’s about damn time.

Google Keep update finally adds labels, reoccurring reminders, and floating action button [DOWNLOAD]

Google Keep 3.1 is now hitting the Play Store for some folks. Arriving today in a staged rollout, the update is huge (at least for us) finally introduces a few much needed functionality to the previously bare bones note taking app.

First up is the new floating action button. It’s a small Material design tweak, and allows users to quickly add a new recording, photo, list, or just a general note with 2 taps.

Google has also added the ability to add reoccurring reminders, this way you can dismiss the notification for now, but will be reminded either daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. There’s also the custom option if you’d like to fine tune the reminder to every few days, until a date, or for a number of events. We can’t stress how insanely helpful this is.

Lastly, labels have finally made their way into Keep. It’s basically the folder system we’ve been asking since the app’s inception, with the ability to move notes into a label and organize your digital mess of a life. Set up a label for work, video games, or just whatever the heck it is you’re into (sexy Instagram ladies?). We have a feeling many of you who were holding out on Keep will return solely for this feature alone.

Google Play’s new search box with integrated hamburger menu button is starting to roll out

Quick, open up your Google Play Store! Seeing the old version with a search button in the upper right? Close the app (force close it if you need to) and open it again. You’ll likely see that a new search box is neatly squared at the top of the app. This is opposed to the old small search button that existed in the upper right of the status bar and could be hard to miss for some.

This new update should make it easier for folks to find the search box and begin looking for all the apps and games they crave. Inside the search box is a hamburger menu button that will bring up the standard Google Play menu for switching between different categories, sections and menus.

You’ll see the white box fade away as you dive deeper into Google Play’s goods, but a search button will persist at the upper right as you scroll through apps and descriptions. Press it and it’ll expand to bring the search box right back up. Intuitive, beautiful and easy — just how we like it.

Ads on Google Search will soon have a “buy” button for easy purchasing

We’re sure Google has a ton of new developments in store for this year’s Google I/O developers conference, but they’re already spilling the beans on one new feature that will help them drive business to their customers and better compete with Facebook and Amazon’s ad business.

Speaking in an interview with Re/code, Google Chief Business Officer Omid Kordestani revealed that a “buy” button would soon be making its way to ads featured in Google Search. According to Kordestani, Google realizes that 90% of commerce is still done offline, and they’re looking to change that.

With a buy button prominently displayed in Google ads, it’ll help eliminate a few steps prospective buyers will likely have to go through just to buy something they see in an ad. That means more money for businesses and more money for Google. We’re sure to learn more during this year’s Google I/O kicking off tomorrow.

New Lollipop Update on Bell’s Galaxy S5 to version 5.0 G900W8VLU1BOC1, Fixes Home button issue

We have posted about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update dubbed with build version G900W8VLU1BOB3 on all Canadian carriers Samsung Galaxy S5, including Bell, Rogers, Telus,  Videotron, Koodo and WIND Mobile.  Bell on the other hand had officially announced the update on their twitter page. Some users got the update but while some users did not seen it.  According  to Bell’s support, it turned out that Samsung has recently halted and pulled the update after noticing an issue with the home button.

However, yet today there is another Lollipop update we recently spotted in Kies firmware server. It’s dubbed with released build version  number G900W8VLU1BOC1. The latter corresponds to Bell, Telus  and Kodoo’s Galaxy S5, and there is nothing yet on Rogers and other Canadian carriers.  The update is going to replace the previously pulled out G900W8VLU1BOB3  and then might also resolves the issue found in the home button.

Just ensure that your Galaxy S5 G900W8 is still runs in official firmware build such as the recent 5.0 Lollipop update G900W8VLU1BOB3 or the Android 4.4.2 G900W8VLU1ANF3 and has not been rooted or modified so you’ll get the official Android 5.0 G900W8VLU1BOC1 without any hiccups.

You may head-over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it in your Windows or Mac computer. Choose the new Kies 3 which supports the Galaxy S5 SM-G900W8 and other Samsung devices running from Android KitKat, and up to Lollipop OS .  Once you installed Kies 3, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F to the computer using the USB cable, then simply run and follow Kies on-screen software update instructions.
