LG G4 leaked in the most revealing and massive collection of photos yet

lg-g4-microsite-leak8.0

LG was planning on waiting until April 28th to fully unveil their latest pride and joy, but those plans were spoiled over the weekend. The company seemingly accidentally published a massive collection of revealing photos on a pre-launch minisite they were testing, and as luck would have it the most experienced leakster happened to stumble upon it.

The minisite was taken down as of the time of this writing, but the photos live on thanks to the internet’s inability to truly delete anything. So what new have we learned? Aside from confirmation of a few pieces of specs — namely, the removable 3,000mAh battery, a 16 megapixel OIS camera, a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display and a microSD slot — we have a pretty good idea of what the thing will look like.

For starters, the stitched “leather” backing teased in invites is real, though it won’t be the only option. The photos revealed a collection of handsets sporting a more traditional looking backplate in 3 classic colors.

That said, if you like the leather look and feel you’ll be happy to know there are quite a few colors to choose from:

  • Black

  • Light Brown

  • Mahogany

  • Light Blu

  • Tan

  • Yellow

The photos also reveal that the backplate is removable to grant access to the battery and SIM card tray. This not only means you can swap batteries but also swap backplates — how cool would it be to get a different looking backplate depending on which style suits you and your wardrobe on a particular day?

Circling around to the front of the device doesn’t reveal much out of the ordinary, though LG looks to be using some sort of mesh-looking pattern to accent the bezels instead of the plain, jet black look we’ve gown accustomed to.

The leak also gave us an early look at LG’s QuickCircle folio case that’ll give you a look at pertinent information on a limited area of the display without having to remove the cover. Pretty standard stuff that we don’t expect to bring any surprises we haven’t already experienced on LG’s prior devices.

Rounding it all out is a decent look at the device’s software, which looks to be a nice take on Android 5.0 Lollipop with a flat, clean user interface and heavy dosage of Google’s Material Design.

So what do you think? We know LG will present a smartphone worth attention and money once April 28th hits, but is it looking like something you want to carry day after day? Sound off below, and be sure to stick around as we’re bound to hear more leading up to the days of the company’s big reveal.

Pushbullet’s massive new update makes it a file sharing juggernaut [VIDEO]

Pushbullet

Pushbullet is getting a huge new update today, and it makes this one of the most pleasant file sharing apps out there. The main change you will see is a new user interface that breaks shared files up into 3 different categories:

pushbullet update

  • Friends: stuff you’ve shared to friends, or stuff they’ve shared with you. You can even tap a friend’s name to see your share history with that person.

  • Me: stuff you’ve shared to your various devices.

  • Following: stuff being shared to certain “channels” that you can follow.

Makes a lot of sense, no? They’ve also improved messaging and replying to make it easy to respond to a friend’s file without having to jump through hoops.

We’re also getting revamped browser extensions that’ll give you access to all these features and new info, as well as a brand new Windows app that introduces a very awesome feature: chat heads. The Windows app can be minimized to your tray, and if a friend pushes something to you you’ll see a bubble with their face pop up. Opening the bubble shows a concise user interface for viewing and replying to that friend, and it’s just as easy to whisk them back away until the next time they have a cat picture to throw your way.

Oh, and those same changes are headed to the web version of Pushbullet, as well. This is a very big step for the team, and it essentially makes Pushbullet a chat platform with a really robust file sharing element  Can’t say we’re not totally excited for where this thing is headed. You can find download links here to get Pushbullet for whichever devices you want it on.

This prototypical smartphone packs a massive 10,000mAh battery

battery phone 1

Most of us are happy to get anything between 2,600mAh and 3,500mAh in a smartphone for battery, but one company is pushing the limit in a big way. Oukitel has been working on a prototypical smartphone that houses a whopping 10,000mAh battery.

As you can imagine, the battery adds a whole hell of a lot more girth than the typical size would, and you would have a tank of a smartphone to carry around. That shouldn’t be an issue for someone who values battery life over size, though. And it doesn’t even look that bad in the few photos of the thing we’ve seen.

We will always prefer improved battery technology over sheer capacity, but in the absence of development for the former side we’d say this is a nice stop gap for anyone who can’t stand the petite batteries of today. No word on what other specs this thing will have or if it’ll ever come to market, but let us know if you wouldn’t mind owning a brick of a phone in order to get what should equate to days of battery life.

Spigen sale brings massive discounts on Nexus 6 cases, free US shipping [DEALS]

Spigen Nexus 6 case sale

If you’ve been keeping up with the Mobile Roar Podcast, you’ve know I’ve been meaning to trade in my DROID Turbo for a big ‘ol honkin’ Nexus 6. Any time you get a new phone, a case is almost always mandatory. It’s a good thing a buddy of mine turned me on to this amazing deal.

Spigen’s got a sale going on where they’ve drastically marked down some of their best cases for the Nexus 6. Pretty much their entire lineup has been marked down by as much as 83%. Yeah, it’s a lot. There’s plenty of options to choose from too, whether you’re looking for a thicker Slim Armor case with kickstand, or a little lighter protection like the Thin Fit (my personal favorite).

If you or someone else you know has a Nexus 6 in need of some protection, hit up Spigen’s sale down below. We’re not sure how much longer it’ll last.

Thanks, Yoshi!

The Saygus V2 gets another massive delay to Fall 2015 (and a sketchy IndieGoGo campaign, to boot)

Saygus V2 DSC08018

The Saygus V2 is a very cool phone that’s very real, but it’s also very late. And that is starting to get very annoying. The company has announced yet another delay, with this particular instance pushing the phone’s arrival back to Fall 2015.

Reasons for the delay were credited to unforeseen hiccups in manufacturing, which is not all that uncommon for companies without much experience. It’s not like we’ve never suffered a delay before, so we suppose we’ll just have to cope the best way we know how.

Saygus V2 DSC08014

What we’re more concerned about, however, is that the company has thrown up a new IndieGoGo campaign for the thing with a lofty million goal. It’s being used as an avenue for folks to learn about the phone and place orders for it that are lower priority than those who were able to pre-register for the device earlier in the year.

That campaign’s million goal was over 80% fulfilled the second it went live, with funds being pledged at least two days before the campaign even kicked off. A vast majority of those pledges came in at 9 a pop, to boot. It’s possible IndieGoGo allowed Saygus to backload the campaign with the funds they secured from the pre-registration users in order to make their current campaign look more legit. But in doing so, it actually doesn’t.

Whatever the case may be, the Saygus V2 is so far off at this point that it will be silly to continue calling it the world’s most advanced smartphone by the time it’s out. Half the specs touted (seeSaygus V2 specs) are either matched or bested in other OEMs’ 2015 flagships, and Saygus’s plans to add a last minute USB Type-C port to the phone don’t do much to persuade us not to go with something that’s already on store shelves. Want to know more about this phone? We got our hands on it back at CES so be sure to check that out and decide if it’s worth jumping through hoops for.
