The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge offers a unique new form factor, so it goes without saying we will see some interesting cases for the new flagship. Samsung will offer a few options out of the gate, including a new take on their S-View flip cover case as well as a lightweight plastic shell case.
The updated flip case features a translucent front providing a full-frontal view of the S6 display. Just as with previous Samsung flip covers, the phone can detect when the case is shut and displays a power-friendly clock and notification widget for at-a-glance updates. Lifting the cover will launch directly into your Galaxy S6 homescreen (provided you don’t have a screen lock enabled).
The case is curved to match the phone’s display and snaps snugly to the rear to offer 360 degrees of protection. We missed the presence of a magnetic clasp or other secure closure mechanism. The flip cover has a tendency to flap around freely otherwise.
Samsung’s other case option for the S6 Edge is more or less the rear of the folio case without its flipping front — that is, a standard plastic shell case that snaps on over the rear of the device. The minimalist cases offer basic protection while showcasing the design of the device.
Samsung’s snap-on rear cases are transparent while the S6 Edge folio case is available in a selection of colors to match those of the Galaxy S6. All should be available at launch.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is one of the most attractive Android devices to date. It has a gorgeous curved display that looks like something you’d find in a sci-fi movie. With all of this beauty it would be a shame if something happened to the device. A simple case can add a personal touch while providing protection.
The Galaxy S6 Edge is actually one of the best devices for a case. Cases on a phones with standard displays often have a raised lip around the edge that makes it hard to swipe in from the side. This is a gesture that is used a lot in Android. Cases on the Galaxy S6 Edge don’t have that lip on the edges to account for the curved display, which makes it much nicer to use.

Once again, be sure to check out our Best Cases for Samsung Galaxy S6 list for more case ideas. A gorgeous phone like the Galaxy S6 Edge deserves an equally gorgeous case. Are you going to put a case on your Galaxy S6 Edge? Do you usually leave your phone case-less?
Yesterday was a doozy in the land of mobile. We saw Samsung announce the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. We saw HTC announce the One M9. And we saw a popular accessory maker strike while the iron’s hot as Speck announced their product lineup for all three devices.
There are 9 different cases total and the Samsung Galaxy S6 gets the majority of the love, with 7 of the 9 cases made for it and only the CandyShell Grip case being made available for the Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9.
These are iterations of previously available and quite popular phone cases that – if you haven’t taken notice of before – you may want to now.
The CandyShell Cases are the glossy, colorful cases with a hard outer shell that offer military grade protection:
The CandyShell Grip – the only one made for the S6, S6 Edge, and M9 – is similar to the CandyShell but it includes patterned rubber gripping areas that not only offer a cool look, but help make sure your sexy slim device doesn’t slip out of your hands.
Then you’ve got my personal favorite: the CandyShell Card. It securely holds up to 3 cards such as credit cards and your drivers license. Everyone I know who has this case absolutely loves it, which leaves me wondering why I’ve never owned one myself.
Then you’ve got CandyShell Inked which essentially offers a vibrant, printed design for a upcharge on the CandyShell and the MightyShell which offer 2X military grade protection for those with a rugged lifestyle or ultra-clumsiness.
Now that you have a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S6 it’s time to customize and protect it. Samsung designed the Galaxy S6 with Gorilla Glass 4 on the back and front, which may be incredibly strong, but is certainly not invincible. Almost every phone is susceptible to a nasty crack if it lands in the perfectly wrong way. Don’t let that happen to your Galaxy S6. We’ve got some excellent cases that can protect your phone and make it stand out from the crowd.
Rugged cases are the most extreme form of protection you can use. These cases add extra bulk to the device, but they also add a ton of protection.
Spigen Rugged Armor
The Rugged Armor is a flexible TPU case featuring an industrial design. It has a mix of glossy lines and carbon fiber texture, which provide decent protection without being overly bulky. This case is more for a rugged look than rugged protection. [.99]
Spigen Tough Armor
The Tough Armor case is the beefiest Spigen has to offer. It’s the perfect combination of a soft TPU layer and a hard polycarbonate backing. The case is reinforced with Air Cushion Technology that absorbs shock from bumps and falls without the bulk. [.99]
Spigen Neo Hybrid
The Neo Hybrid case is a mix between TPU, polycarbonate, and metal. It has all the benefits of a tough, rugged case, but it’s lightweight and relatively slim. This case is the best of both rugged and slim cases. [.99]
Speck MightyShell
The MightyShell boasts “2x military-grade protection.” It has three different layers of materials for excellent impact protection, but yet is only 0.18-inches thick. The MightyShell also comes with a lifetime warranty (if for some reason you never upgrade your phone). [.95]
Slim Cases
A slim case can add a little bit of extra protection, mostly against scratches and dings, but they also add some style. Using a slim-fitting case is a nice way to personalize your phone without bulking it up and losing the attractive profile.
Spigen Capsule Solid
The “Capsule” name comes from the encapsulated protection that this case offers. The flexible matte TPU wraps tightly around the device for a snug fit that offers extra grip and protection against dings and scratches. [.99]
Speck CandyShell Grip

Battery Cases

Mophie Juice Pack

These are just some of the many cases you can find for the Galaxy S6. Are you a fan of any of these cases/manufacturers? Which case do you plan to use on your Galaxy S6? Are you going case-less?
If you’ve seen our LG G4 hands-on and decided that you’re going to bite the bullet on buying it, you might want to start looking at options for accessories. Thankfully LG gave us a good look at some early ones, including the various cases that will be available for the device once it goes on sale.
The company is bringing back their tried and true Quick Circle series. These are folio cases with a circle cut out for the LG G4’s AMOLED display to show information and allow you to use mini apps, all the while merely sipping on battery as AMOLED displays have the ability to light up individual pixels.
The Quick Circle gives access to time and date, weather, music controls, a quick look at messages and even the camera without having to flip the cover. Its utility serves to solve the main annoyance people have with most folio cases, which is having to flip it open even for the smallest of tasks.
The case comes in an assortment of different colors, including gold and silver, a light blue, a dark grey, pink and brown. The case materials appear to be a nice firm plastic, and they all feature a subtle diamond pattern to add to the looks.
There’s also the Quick Circle Pop, which serves the same purpose but is seemingly made out of a shiny, gummy patent leather material. There’s no word on how much these will cost just yet, though previous releases tell us to expect them in the range of to . Be sure to take a closer look at them in the video above.
Doesn’t matter if your smartphone’s screen is made of Gorilla Glass 1 or 4 — they’re still prone to scratches. Now, we’re not going to attach a “gate” at the end of this one (we know how much you guys hate it), but it seems Samsung’s own official Clear View case could actually do more damage to your Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge than if you left your display completely bare.
Some users on XDA are reporting tiny little scratches or pits on their glass screens caused by tiny dirt or dust particles that fall in between the display and the plastic clear case. This isn’t exactly an uncommon issue. Ask anyone that’s used a hard plastic case — the ones that only cover the back — on any previous phone and they’ll give you all kinds of horror stories about how the metal or plastic ended up with the exact same blemishes. How Samsung thought this would be a good idea on a flip case that covers the phone’s display with hard plastic is anyone’s guess. It’s just ironic how the very thing someone bought to protect their device, was its own undoing.
Might wanna think twice before buying one of these, or just double up with a screen protector as well.
