We take user manuals for granted these days. Most devices come with small tutorials to show you the basics, and then leave you off to explore your new toy with glee.

But if you’re the type who likes the informative literature that’ll show you the ins and outs of your device before using it, then you’ll be happy to know that the manual accompanying some of 2015’s most anticipated phones — the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge — is already available for your viewing pleasure.

HTC One M9 vs HTC One M8 vs HTC One M7: a video comparison ahead of its announcement

We haven’t even had our morning coffee yet and Mobile World Congress-related leaks are already making their way to the interwebs. The latest shows us yet another look at the controversial HTC One M9, titled such because there’s been a lot of noise and debate about its supposed design.

Some lucky gent who’s in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress got his hands on the supposed device early, and decided to put it side-by-side up against the HTC One M7 from 2013 and last year’s HTC One M8. They look quite similar, and there are no signs of the reported overhauled design that @evleaks told us to expect.

While some early leaked renders have shown a mono-colored metal unibody design, this guy has the same dual-toned finish that we saw in our leaked shots back in January (and the same one featured in the promotional poster HTC will use to advertise the thing at retailers).

There’s been mounting evidence that HTC will go with this “refresh” of a design and very little to support @evleaks’ original claim, so we’ll have to wait until they take the wraps off later today to see if this is the real deal or evidence that HTC’s finally gotten better at hiding their wares. HTC One M9 and its full spec sheet is on Best Buy with a $650 price tag well ahead of schedule

Needed even more evidence that HTC was announcing the HTC One M9 today? How about its sudden arrival on America’s biggest electronics retailer? The device has hit Best Buy’s listings, and yes — it looks like an HTC One M8. This listing joins another leak earlier this morning of the device being compared to the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 on video.

Best Buy also has a pretty full spec sheet to go along with their pretty picture. It doesn’t say anything we weren’t already expecting, but in case you were curious:

• 5-inch Super LCD3 1080p display


• 3GB of RAM


• 32GB of internal storage with microSD


• 20 megapixel rear camera, 4 megapixel (UltraPixel) front camera

More than all of that, we’re treated to an early word on its price tag: 0 unlocked. The listing only notes compatibility with AT&T, though we’re sure to see variants that are fit for the other major carriers in due time. You obviously can’t order yet, but it’s there and its early arrival to major retailers could suggest HTC won’t take very long to push this phone out of the door.

ASUS ZenPad leaked ahead of Computex 2015 reveal, 4:3 aspect ratio confirmed

ASUS is going to be waving their Taiwanese flag proudly at Computex next week, and the company is expected to introduce a new good-looking tablet to add to their ZenPad line. It’ll simply be called “ASUS ZenPad,” and the one thing you’ll notice from this newly-leaked render of it is that it’s sporting a screen ratio of 4:3.

Such a ratio was seen as odd at one point, but the prominence of Apple’s iPad seems to have gotten us used to it. In fact, perhaps we even prefer it.

ASUS is said to be going with Intel processors again as part of their new partnership. We still don’t know how we feel about that just yet as we have yet to put an Intel devices through its proper paces, but we’ll keep an open mind for sure.

One other detail suggests the company will introduce a 7-inch affordable model with 1024 x 600 resolution, while an 8-inch model will take things up a few notches with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. If ASUS can get these bad boys at or near that sweet spot of 0 we’d say there’s reason to take notice. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out more.

LG’s cool trial program for the LG G4 is headed to the United States, and folks interested in trying it out can now apply to be among the first testers. This trial program will net you a loaner of the phone weeks ahead of its retail launch.

Not only will you have the latest and greatest before everyone else, but you’ll be helping to test LG’s software and give feedback in order to ensure the wide scale launch goes down smoothly.

Nest’s first camera has been leaked ahead of June 17th event

Our sources have been telling us that Nest will be making their own-branded camera following their acquisition of Dropcam, and that they’ll tie all their products together with a new multi-functional app. That information seems to have been spot on, if this leak is to be trusted.

What we’re getting is a very Dropcam-esque camera, except more slim and sleek than prior models. The camera will have a suction and swiveling base for flexible placement, and there’s a clean nest logo placed firmly beneath the lens. We also learn that the camera will use Bluetooth and QR codes for easy pairing (its recent FCC appearance confirms Bluetooth), as well as the ability to support 1080p video streams.

We’re also getting a first look at the new Nest app, which will no doubt allow you to control your Thermostat, Protect and Camera from one convenient location. The app doesn’t appear to show any hints of  between Nest’s products, but there’s a chance we could  be in for a surprise come June 17th (the day the announcement is scheduled to go down).

Sony has confirmed that their Android TV units are going on sale starting next month. If you don’t remember, these bad boys were at CES, and the main reason they got so much attention was due to their razor-thin profile. They’re probably more slim than your wallet. Here’s a shot of its side profile up against a typical smartphone.
