Speck unveils Galaxy S6 cases for their popular CandyShell and MightyShell lineups

Yesterday was a doozy in the land of mobile. We saw Samsung announce the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. We saw HTC announce the One M9. And we saw a popular accessory maker strike while the iron’s hot as Speck announced their product lineup for all three devices.

There are 9 different cases total and the Samsung Galaxy S6 gets the majority of the love, with 7 of the 9 cases made for it and only the CandyShell Grip case being made available for the Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9.

Gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are so popular, supply is almost completely exhausted

We took a look at every single color option of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge back during Mobile World Congress. While not normally partial to gold color options when it comes to our smartphones, we have to admit, the Gold Platinum Samsung Galaxy S6 looked surprisingly classy. Turns out, many of you felt the same way.

Samsung sent out a press release earlier today announcing that the gold version of their flagship device has been their most popular version, so much in fact that they’re having trouble keeping up with demand. According to Samsung, 1 out of every 4 Galaxy S6 colors sold is the gold version, creating shortages of the option in markets like Europe.

In fact, Samsung notes that stock in Europe has almost been completely exhausted and although they’ll soon be ramping up production to compensate, you may want to consider going with your second color pick if you had your heart set on the phone.

Google’s new Family section goes live in the Play Store, search for apps/games by age or popular characters

It was announced onstage during Google I/O a few weeks back and today, Google’s new “Family” section is now officially live in the Google Play Store. The section is essentially a landing page for parents to go to when looking for kid-friendly apps in the Play Store. Not only does it highlight a variety of favorites, but allows users to search by their favorite characters or within their age group.

Apps in this section are carefully vetted by Google and developers must first apply to have their apps/games manually selected for inclusion. That means you shouldn’t have to worry about your kids running into any questionable content (although it’s always good to keep an eye on what they’re downloading).
