You can now find your Android phone using your Android Wear smart watch

Moto 360 screen

Your phone and smart watch should rarely be parted, so Google’s doing something to lower the chances of that happening. The company has announced a forthcoming update to Android Wear that will add support for Android Device Manager, an app that helps you locate your phone and perform remote actions like blaring a ringer or remotely locking access to it.

Find your phone with Android Wear

To use it, you can speak into your smart watch the following command:

Ok, Google. Start. Find my phone

Or find the “find my phone” option in the start menu. It’ll start ringing your phone to allow you to find its location. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like there’s access to more advanced location features just yet, but perhaps there are plans to make that happen in the near future.

The best part is that you won’t need to deal with an OTA — Google says it’ll appear on your smart watch automatically, though it might take a few weeks to each everyone.

You can find the Nexus 9 for $75 off at Best Buy [DEALS]

Nexus 9 DSC07280

The Nexus 9 — although not perfect in any sense — is still the only 9-inch Nexus Tablet out there. Love it or hate it. For those that aren’t turned off by some of its shortcomings (we’ve seen varying reports of bugginess and questionable build quality), the tablet can be found at Best Buy this weekend for a cool off.

That brings the price down to 5 for the 16GB version, and 5 for the 32GB model in either Indigo black, or Lunar white. Normally priced at 0/0, that’s still cheaper than you’ll find the Nexus 9 on the Google Store.

The tablet has received mostly favorably reviews on Best Buy.com and Amazon, where we’re seeing a solid 4-star rating. That’s gotta say something, right? Link to the Nexus 9 at Best Buy provided below.

Quick Tip: You can now type “Find my phone” into Google Search to locate it

google find my phone

Google’s Android device manager is a great way to locate your phone after it’s been lost, and we consider it a primary option to turn to whenever you suffer the unfortunate fate. The only issue is that it’s never been a great experience finding the Android Device Manager on the web — some folks don’t even know that the Android Device Manager is.

To make things easier, Google has created an interface that will show up whenever you type “find my phone” into their search engine (typing “how to find a lost phone” works just as well). You’ll see a map as the service begins automatically locating your device.

You’ll have to be signed in, of course, and you should have Android Device Manager enabled at all times, but once you’ve taken care of all that you can remember this handy search query the next time you’re frantically searching for your phone instead of having to remember a long URL or rely on a bookmark.

FeedMe lets you find the hottest restaurant deals in your area Reddit-style [New App]

feedme collage

There’s a new app on Google Play from the maker of everyone’s favorite calendar app Today Calendar. FeedMe is its name, and  it’s a crowd-sourced deals curation app that lets folks post the best restaurant deals in their area.

Simply posting the deal isn’t enough, though — users can even upvote them as if they would upvote an interesting post on Reddit. (We did it Reddit!) This would naturally help the best deals for the best restaurants bubble straight to the top.

If you decide you want to take advantage of a deal the app makes it easy to not only call in order to confirm that it’s valid, but also whisk you away to its location on Google Maps so you can plan your drive there for a tasty meal. It’s all decked out in a fit of Material Design, too, so it looks just as good as the food you’ll yearn to eat. Give FeedMe a spin over at Google Play.

Google wants to help you find the perfect Android phone

Android Which Phone tool landing

Because the hardest part in choosing Android over iOS is figuring out which, out the hundreds of Android phones available, you should pick next. Google wants to help make that decision making process a little easier. The search giant has just launched a new landing page on Android.com that compares various devices with a handy online web tool.

Android Which Phone tool 2

It’s actually pretty basic. You basically answer a variety of questions like how you plan on using your Android device the most, followed by a few followup questions (how often do you plan on using your camera per week?). Google will continue prying, asking how what about the camera is most important, and when you’re all done, Google will pull up some matches based on your carrier preference.

Once they’ve presented their results — along with specs and software features — you can further filter down results by size, price, or “latest phones.” We’re not going to lie, we hit a few snags in the tool already, with the pictures of the devices not matching their name or descriptions. In either case, you can give it a try for yourself, or simply recommend it to friends and family looking for a new smartphone that isn’t the iPhone 6. Hop on over with the link down below.
