#Rotategate: Many Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge users are having auto-rotate issues

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge DSC09206

Is your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge suddenly stuck in one screen orientation? You’re not alone — Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge accelerometers everywhere seem to be getting their gears jammed and it has nothing to do with forgetting to select auto-rotate in your settings.

A fairly sizable collective of individuals have reported that their Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge units periodically refuse to respond when trying to switch from portrait to landscape and vice versa. The only solution that has worked thus far? Walking into the store and requesting a new device, and reports from Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T customers confirm that they are granting these replacements without hesitation.

It seems that the Galaxy S6 Edge fast charger is heating the battery more than normal, causing the nearby accelerometer chip to burn out.

How to check if your S6 Edge accelerometer is busted:

… you can see that the accelerometer is stuck. To verify, enter “*#0*#” in your phone app to enter hardware test mode. Touch “Sensor”. The X, Y and Z for the accelerometer must all change in rapid succession as you rotate your phone. If any are stuck on 32767 or -32768, you have a HARDWARE problem which cannot be fixed by updates of software/firmware of ANY kind.

It’s still possible that a simpler solution exists, for example a firmware patch or maybe there was a bad batch of fast chargers but unfortunately that’s not the currently prevailing school of thought. We’ve put in a word to Samsung and are awaiting an official response, but in the meantime, join the more complete discussion on the topic on Android Forums.

It’s also worth noting that there have been no such reports for the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy S6, just the S6 Edge.

Stay cool: HTC One M9 overheating issues have been fixed, now ready to be shipped

HTC One M9 OEM cases DSC08887

Earlier this week we wrote about the HTC One M9 experiencing some overheating issues. It was reported early on that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 had some problems with overheating, which is why the Samsung Galaxy S6 doesn’t use it. HTC’s Communications manager made sure to let everyone know that the One M9 was not running final software yet, which could explain the issues.

Now, a member of XDA forums is reporting that HTC has solved this spicy problem. His source with a One M9 received an OTA update with the changelog: “thermal improvements and camera improvements.” A Twitter user is also reporting that HTC has finalized software and devices are ready to be shipped. Just in time for the early April time frame.

This is all very good news, and it’s why you should never freak out about problems before a device is available in stores. When software and hardware aren’t meshing it can create problems like overheating. We’ll test the One M9 for ourselves, but at this juncture the overheating is not something to worry about. Stay cool, everybody.

OnePlus to address lingering touchscreen issues for the OnePlus One in latest firmware update

OnePlus One DSC06073

While OnePlus has worked to eliminate the touchscreen issues many have experienced since the OnePlus One launched, there were still a few unlucky souls out there who were stuck with the abnormal behavior (said behavior being that the touchscreen simply became unresponsive with no rhyme or reason). Thankfully those issues are close to being addressed.

OnePlus says they’ve been working tirelessly with Synaptics to figure out why some users were still experiencing these issues, and they’ve seemingly identified the issue and are working on a fix. A firmware upgrade is being readied for those who are affected by it, great news if you were at your wit’s end and just about ready to quit.

Unfortunately the good news stops there as the company does not yet have a timeline to provide for its arrival. If your patience has already worn thin they’re inviting you to contact customer service just as you normally would, but for those who can stand to wait then the suffering should soon come to an end.

Tips on How to Upgrade the Galaxy S5 SM-G900T to G900TUVU1ANE6 4.4.2 Software Update

Samsung as well T-Mobile support team always advises us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedures to keep your  phone in safe.

Recharge the phone’s battery – You should make sure your device is fully recharged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress. A power failures may cause damaged to your device that might results as we so-called “soft-bricks”. If this happens your device may just stuck on Samsung logo or welcome screen and can’t reboot normally.

Backup important data – Even though it is not as always necessarily but if something might went wrong while taking the software update your  your important data is already in a safe place.  You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happened and it forces you to perform a factory data reset which basically wipes your phone’s memory.

Galaxy S5 has no root – Your device should not been modified or rooted, there is a certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Galaxy S5 SM-G900T may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made. Learn about the new Samsung KNOX security suite. Most known error that says ‘firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in kies and try again‘ or “Your device has been modified Software update are not available” you should try to avoid that from happening.

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Kies. You may head-over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it in your Windows or Mac computer.
